Stop an Endless Case of Hic-Hic-Hiccups in a Hurry!
Try one of these 7 tricks to lick the hics quick.
Sure, they’ll eventually go away on their own. But with one of these DIY hiccup halters, there’s no need to wait.
Lick ‘em with a little lemon-aid. Stick a lemon wedge under your tongue, suck it once, hold the juice in your mouth for 10 seconds, and then swallow.
Chew some bread to stop ‘em dead. Slowly chew a piece of dry toast, and by the time it’s gone, the hiccups will be history.
Freeze ‘em out. Wrap an ice cube in a paper towel, and rub the frozen chunk up and down your throat for as long as you can stand it. I’m betting that before you throw in the towel, your hiccups will.
Just a spoonful of sugar…Measure a teaspoon of granulated sugar, and pour it slowly onto your tongue. Then let it dissolve and trickle down your throat to stop the spasms.
Nuttin’ but. Put a big spoonful of creamy peanut butter in your mouth, and hold it there for five minutes without chewing. Then swallow the glob. Sounds crazy and—let’s face it—delicious, but there’s “nut” a better cure!
Handle ‘em. Fill a glass with water, then drop in a table knife, handle side up. Drink three sips of water while holding the handle of the knife to your temple. That’s all there is too it—it works every time!
Find a friend. Try this remedy if you have someone nearby who can help. Stand against a wall with your arms stretched out to the sides. Then have your friend hold a glass of water up to your mouth while you drink quickly. When you’re finished, you may be a little wet (and you’ll probably have a case of the giggles), but the hiccups will be gone.
