Go ahead—have a Hershey®, dig into a Dove®, and go for the Godiva®! And don’t feel too guilty about it, either—new research suggests that chocolate may actually be healthy. Here’s the skinny on health by chocolate:
Given all the good news about chocolate, how often should you allow yourself to dip into the candy dish? Most researchers agree that you can have a full-size candy bar a couple of times a month, or a mini one every day. You’re also better off choosing solid chocolate candies or those with nuts rather than those with creamy fillings, which contribute calories but very few antioxidants. Also be careful of chocolate in cake, cookies, and ice cream. Although you get the health benefits of the chocolate, they come with a lot of calories and other ingredients that could spell trouble for your heart.
The bottom line this Valentine’s Day: Settle for a kiss!
