Sink the Sinus Pain With C
There probably isn’t a single nutrient that does more for the body than vitamin C. And during allergy season, you can combine nature’s heavy hitter with vitamins A and E to fight sinus headaches. Together they can strengthen your membranes and your immune system, reduce congestion, and help protect against cold- and flu-causing germs. Check the drugstore for a combination vitamin, then ask your doctor about the dosage that’s right for you. Or get your daily quota through vitamin-rich fresh produce like oranges, apricots, carrots, and tomatoes.
Here’s a super salad that’s anything but green. It’s a zingy side dish that’s got a different taste and a big dose of health benefits – it’s loaded with vitamin C and A.
Ingredients:
1 can (15 ounces) whole baby beets, drained
1/2 cup canned mandarin orange segments, drained
1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel.
1/4 cup orange juice
1/8 teaspoon dried rosemary
Cut the beets in half and place them in a small bowl. Add the orange segments, orange peel, orange juice, and rosemary, and stir. Chill well. (Yield: 3 servings)
