Sunburn
If too much time outside has given you a nasty sunburn, try one of these terrific
tips:
-
Steep four tea bags in a quart of water and let them cool to lukewarm. Then chill
the bags and wring them out, and place them on any sunburned areas. Cooled tea bags
are especially soothing on sunburned eyelids. Just squeeze the liquid out, lay the
bags on your closed peepers, and say “Aahhhhh!”
- Dabbing whole milk or plain yogurt on sunburn for 15 minutes every 2 to 4 hours
can be ultrasoothing. But don’t try this treatment until the heat has gone out of
the burn, or you’ll feel as if you’ve jumped into a fire.
- Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons of salt in a glass of ice-cold milk, and sponge it onto your
skin twice daily until the redness subsides.
- Slip into a cool bath spiked with a tablespoon or two of baking soda, or a cup
of apple cider vinegar.
- Nothing soothes a sunburn like aloe vera gel. Just snap off a lower leaf of an
aloe plant near the center of the stalk. Remove the spines, and then split the leaf
in half lengthwise. Scrape out the gel, and apply it directly to your sunburn.
Oh, and next time? Don’t forget the sunscreen!
